It is a computing service that runs code in response to Events and automatically manages the computing resources required by that code. It was introduced in November 2014.[2] Other similar solutions in the market are Google Cloud functions, Oracle Cloud Fn and Azure Functions.

VPC configuration for AWS Lambda function is optional unless your user permissions require you to configure a VPC.

Free tier

The AWS Lambda free usage tier includes 1M free requests per month and 400,000 GB-seconds (1GB-111 hours) of compute time per month.
