A Kubernetes service is an abstraction which defines a logical set of Pods and a policy by which to access. [1]

Kubernetes sample service: my-service

  name: my-service

  ports:
    - protocol: TCP
      port: 80
      targetPort: 9376

If targetPort is not specified then same port value is used also as targetPort
