Alpine Linux

Alpine Linux is a Linux distribution based on musl and BusyBox, designed to be small and resource efficiency, as of 2020 is around 6 MB. Alpine Linux uses apk package manager and OpenRC init system (not systems).

• docker run alpine

Activities

1. Run Alpine Linux in a docker container: docker run -it alpine /bin/sh (Bash is not supported in Alpine)
2. Connect to an existing pod (myalpine) in K8s: kubectl exec -it myalpine -- /bin/sh
3. kubectl run -it alpine --image=alpine -- sh
